SO WHAT’S YOUR NEW ROLE ABOUT?

Perform is looking for highly motivated engineers to join our new broadcast and transmission engineering team in Leeds. This role will predominately be supporting the delivery of premium international live sports content onto our direct to consumer platform – accessed through connected devices. This platform is shaping the future of how live sport will be watched – be a part of it now.

The successful candidate must be passionate about broadcast, IP based media technology and working in live television. The candidate will ideally have previous knowledge or experience of broadcast systems, contribution, distribution & streaming technology. The role will be suited for Broadcast professionals looking to build upon their skills in an environment heavily focused on IP based delivery and equally network professionals wanting to extend broadcast into their skillset.

This role can provide future progression opportunities within the wider engineering departments. You will need to have a proactive, hands on attitude be part of this fast-growing company and will want to be part of an enthusiastic hardworking team. The team deal with production engineering, transmission/playout systems and broadcast IP signal contribution and distribution circuits. Ensuring quality, availability of systems and continuity of service.

The role will be shift based to support the 24/7 365 operation.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR NEW ROLE?

Support of production systems, transmission/playout systems and broadcast contribution & distribution.

50%

Liaison with ingest, MCR, encoding, network and 3rd line support teams.

20%

Communication with internal and 3rd parties to support the operation.

10%

Provide regular maintenance of broadcast playout and related production equipment.

Project based work to improve or access new systems.

5%

Attending meetings with supervisors to improve process and instructional guidance documentation.

DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN INTERVIEW?

Skill Level (out of 4)

Broadcast playout systems including GFX, logo and text insertion, associated technologies, workflows and broadcast standards.

Satellite & fibre communications, Broadcast contribution encoding techniques and high level fault analysis.

Broadcast Production systems – switchers, sound deks, routers, glue, commentary, GFX, replay.

Automation Tools (Dataminer) & Scheduling Tools (ScheduAll)
Understanding of Transport Stream Analysis tools.
Understanding of IP networking, OTT technology, software development & coding.
