Perform is recruiting for:

Digital Journalist – Editorial (News)– reports, writes and edits content across the entire spectrum of sports

Location: Charlotte, NC 28202

 

This role will deliver content across an entire spectrum of sports on which Omnisport US focuses, generating social, sharable and snackable news items that not only cover breaking news but also drive unique users and page views for clients.  You will use newsgathering techniques, such as monitoring player/coach news conferences, conducting interviews (both in person and over the phone), rewriting and aggregating existing content and sifting through social media, such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for newsworthy items.

With your proficiency in front of and behind the studio camera and cutting and uploading video, you will be exposed in some instances as a digital journalist to be trained to shoot video remotely.

 WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR NEW ROLE?

  • Delivering eye-catching multi-platform content for use by internal portals and global clients
  • Copy editing
  • Assisting with video production either in front of or behind camera
  • Monitoring social media and other outlets to ensure relevant news is surfaced

 

DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN INTERVIEW?

  • 1-2 years of digital media journalism experience, specifically in sports
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, preferably honed at a newspaper, agency or digital site
  • Outstanding knowledge of a wide variety of sports and a strong understanding of media law
  • Good editorial judgment and the ability to work to real-time deadlines
  • Strong organizational, communication and time-management skills
  • A keen eye for detail

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding of and experience working with Video and/or Data Editorial content
  • Knowledge of sports with global appeal (soccer, golf, tennis, etc.)
