Our next instalment of Perform People sees Lameez Abrahams, Advertising Operations Manager in South Africa tell us all about her life there!
Give us some background on your role at Perform
I manage the Ad Operations as well as Office Administration for the Perform Africa region.
Location of and life in the office
The Perform Africa main office is located in the beautiful Mother City of South Africa, ie Cape Town. Life in the Cape Town office is very much how I see the city itself: vibrant, pleasant, filled with highly skilled and intelligent people that know how to work hard and still enjoy life.
What do you like most about your job?
Being challenged and being able to put my analytical skills to use. Being able to use all of my skills that I’ve acquired over the years but most of all, doing what I’m passionate about.
What do you find most challenging about your job?
Making sure everyone understands that Ad Operations does have a cut-off. I’m kidding! Sometimes things don’t always work as planned or envisioned and as Ad Ops, you have to find a way to make it work. I love doing that.
What drew you to work for Perform, and how has the company changed since?
I was headhunted to work at Perform. I prefer being surrounded by intelligent people because you become what you surround yourself with. I am constantly challenged, but this is how I learn and grow. Perform is made up of extremely skilled and intelligent people globally and I never stop learning from them. It has not really changed much here in Africa.
Favourite Perform Brand, and why?
Goal.com. It’s the biggest sporting website in Africa with millions and millions of followers. I am proud to be part of what makes Goal function every day for our users.
What do you get up to out of the office (interests, hobbies etc.)?
Uhm..which do I choose?! I’m a mum to a 6 year old which is a full-time job in itself. When I’m not the crazy mum, I belly dance on Mondays, Ice Skate on Sundays, crossfit 3 days a week and this year started Rhythm and Dance classes for Toddlers. As part of the Rhythm and Dance classes, I choreographed dances for a school concert. I know you’re probably thinking, where does she find the time?! There is always time if we want to do something badly enough!
Now for the fun part…
If you could pick a superpower what would it be and why?
To be able to do magic!
If you could interview anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
Mother Teresa. She inspires me every day to be better in a world where mankind has forgotten how to be patient, forgiving, non-judgmental and kind toward each other.
Choose your Mr. Men or Little Miss character to describe your work life and your home life?
Little Miss Sparkle.
Would you rather be a meowing dog or a barking cat?
Definitely a barking cat.
Back to reality…
Best advice you would give someone wanting to work for Perform?
Be bold, be yourself, own it and don’t be afraid to want and go after it!
Please could you think of a question for the next Perform Colleague? (Make it absolutely anything!)
Your question from Sam Lee was:
If you could choose your nickname what would it be?
Your Question for the next Perform Colleague is:
If you could be any Villian, who would it be and why?
