Our next instalment of Perform People sees Rob Ellis, Production Editor for Omnisport, tell us all about himself!

Give us some background on your role at Perform

My role as Production Editor sees me working across both input and output of video and editorial content for Omnisport. The main goal is to ensure the Omnisport product is as strong as possible, working closely with colleagues across the many global offices, improving the quality of content we can provide clients. This may be exclusive interviews, data-driven viral content or major event preview and in-tournament content.

In addition, I work closely with colleagues outside of Omnisport, across Perform, while also seeking to improve Perform’s global image – working with external companies on bespoke content – PR agencies, clubs, federations, sponsors and agents.

Location of and life in the office

I work in Sussex House in Feltham, a great environment to work alongside many international colleagues.

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is different and each day is a new opportunity to improve the work we do and what we can achieve.

What do you find most challenging about your job?

The role is multi-faceted, with many demands, most notably when there is major breaking news which requires quick-thinking and strong decision making.

What drew you to work for Perform, and how has the company changed since?

Perform was a great opportunity for me to work for an international company in a sector I am passionate about, sports media. The company has grown significantly, embracing greater collaboration between many different teams, across South America, North America, Asia and Australia.

Favourite Perform Brand, and why?

I have huge respect for the level of success our colleagues at Opta and WTA have achieved in recent years and admire their enthusiasm to build on that success.

What do you get up to out of the office (interests, hobbies etc.)?

I live in south London, where there are many opportunities to embrace all the many great things the area has to offer – music, film, nightlife, restaurants and much more!

Now for the fun part…

If you could pick a superpower what would it be and why?

To fly – would help speed up the commute!

If you could interview anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?

Muhammad Ali. He’d do a great Opta Quiz.

Choose your Mr. Men or Little Miss character to describe your work life and your home life?

Mr Busy, Mr Cheerful.

Would you rather be a hissing lion or a roaring snake?

Hissing lion.

Back to reality…

Best advice you would give someone wanting to work for Perform?

Work hard and make the most of every opportunity.

Please could you think of a question for the next Perform Colleague? (Make it absolutely anything!)

Your question from Lameez Abrahams was:
If you could be any Villain, who would it be and why?

Hans Gruber, Die Hard. Great name!

Your question for the next Perform Colleague is:
What was your best achievement in 2016?
