Objective

The Premier League, keen to exploit revenue opportunities across both mobile platforms and the internet, were looking for a production and technical solutions partner who could provide the services necessary to produce and distribute near live and on demand highlight clips of all 380 Barclays Premier League matches to licensees of both it's International Mobile Rights and International Internet Rights.

Perform was selected because of our heritage in the football industry and expertise in providing a secure, timely and reliable production, distribution and technology service.

How Perform Services responded

By radically developing our video production, transcoding and syndication management solutions Perform Production and Perform Technology were able to create a world class state of the art production and technology platform for encoding and distributing video clips.

For mobile partners we provide near-live, in-match mobile clips and match highlight packages, as well as general preview and round-up programming clips. The near-live clips have to be edited, voiced, exported and encoded into over sixty different formats and distributed to mobile partners globally in under 4 minutes from when the action happened.

In respect of the Internet Clips Package, the service covers production and delivery of match highlights and general round-up material in accordance with strict holdback regimes.

On a typical match day, we produce 4,500 encodes which equates to over 7,000 minutes of action and 63 different encoding formats for over 30 international mobile and internet partners.

Clips are made available through a Perform Technology developed intranet site where partners can retrieve selected clips through push and pull FTP and http options.
