JOB TITLE: Business Development Executive

 

 

REPORTS TO: Head of Group Strategy

 

 

DIRECT REPORTS: None

 

 

HRS: 37.5 hours per week

 

 

LOCATION: Feltham, Middlesex

 

 

INTRODUCTION:

 

Reporting to Head of Group Strategy, the Business Development Executive will be a key member of the Business Development and Commercial team within Perform's Service Division, which is tasked with growing Perform's business across sports and entertainment sectors in the UK and internationally.

 

Working closely with key commercial personnel, as well as other departments within Perform, this individual will be responsible for providing support to the team's operational and strategic activities and providing platform for ensuring that the service strategy, domestic and international expansion are planned and implemented as efficiently and profitably as possible.

 

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated a high level of performance within one or more areas of Technology, Media or Telecom and has a proven track record of driving multi-stakeholder projects within a complex and consultative B2B sales environment. We are looking for a confident, highly motivated self-starter with excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills, who can work in a rapidly changing industry and demonstrate organisational competence.

 

It is envisaged that this person will evolve in this role and assume ever-growing responsibility within the team, therefore determination and the ability to effectively work as a part of the team and manage multiple issues are critical.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Commercial:

 

- Working alongside Head of Strategy to qualify/disqualify opportunities, in accordance with overall division commercial and business development strategy;

- Collating input from different departments and/or international offices, pulling these into cohesive and well presented sales proposals, presentations and/or PFP/RFI responses;

- Analysis and formulation/adjustment of project business models, taking into account market intelligence and internal financial guidelines;

- Working with account management to ensure smooth transition of new clients to the relevant account manager;

- Coordination of international activities, ensuring that sales processes are followed in different offices and consistent with overall strategy;

- Ownership and management of all data/documentation relating to existing proposals and sales collateral, ensuring sales team and account managers are supported effectively at all times;

- Knowledge sharing: ensuring that best-practices, as well as issues, are communicated effectively across different departments, other parts of Perform and international offices.

 

Strategic:

 

- Sourcing, collation and analysis of accurate market intelligence in relation to competitors, key clients, new products/technology and market sectors;

- Working alongside Head of Strategy and other key commercial personnel to identify growth areas in the marketplace and key potential clients;

- Assisting with analysis of trends across Perform's portfolio of sports and entertainment solutions, forming a basis for future commercial deal structures;

- Effectively liaising with the internal product development team to ensure that the latest developments are effectively productised and included in sales proposals, where applicable;

- Ensuring commercial analysis and all required management reports are created and circulated in timely fashion.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

 

- New business vs. Budget

- Sales process efficiency - targeted on progress of prospect through various stages and measuring improvements in:

        - The rate at, and the manner in, which prospects are qualified for pitches

        - The percentage of pitches converted

        - The length of average sales cycle

- Improvement in new business terms/profit margins

- Quality and quantity of market intelligence (competitors, market developments, key target clients).

 

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

Commercial/Business Analysis skills:

 

Minimum 2-3 years experience of TMT industry, however will consider outstanding candidates from other sectors;

Good university degree, though will consider outstanding candidates without a degree but with relevant industry experience;

Demonstrable experience of understanding (and ideally, structuring) business models;

Excellent organisational and project management skills - proven ability to own projects and ensure they are managed appropriately through to completion;

Ability to create and run multiple campaigns while retaining individual focus and prioritise effectively;

Solid understanding of best-practice sales process;

Basic understanding of commercial contractual requirements;

Ability to break complex problems into constituent parts and establish frameworks for problem-solving, setting clear and measurable targets.

 

Personal:

 

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Solid knowledge of MS Office, and specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Results-driven, self-starter

Strong analytical ability

Creative, innovative and strategic in problem-solving approach

Good operator, with confidence and ability to work at all levels

A keen interest in (and preferably, understanding of) sports and entertainment sectors, internet video technology and commercial mechanisms.
